Blue Voyage - The Story Begins...

In 1925, the historian and novel writer Cevat Sakir Kabaagacli was sent to Bodrum because of an article he wrote. He was sentenced to three years of exile; however, the days he spent in Bodrum were a blessing rather than a punishment so he was ordered to come back to Istanbul in order to complete the rest of his punishment.

After the exile was over Cevat Sakir immediately moved to Bodrum. Inspired by the name of Bodrum in ancient times, he adopted the alias "Fisherman of Halicarnassus" and succeeded in writing numerous well known literature work. He also chartered the gulet 'Yatagan' of a sponge hunter and made some adventure trips along the Aegean coast. In his writings, Cevat Sakir tells us about his journeys and people he met. He later named these very humble trips "Blue Voyage".

Gulet Cruising has been an attraction for many years...

And yet there is no other holiday experience to compare it to. Unlike cruises on large  Ocean Liners, on a gulet you can explore the secluded and often deserted bays and coves of the coastline. The small harbours and settlements offer an intimate view, as well as an opportunity to meet the undisturbed character of this fascinating part of the world. Slipping into crystal clear waters where you can see a starfish resting on white sands 20 feet below, or a night swim after a hot day can be a treat in its own right. The depth of the blue sky and the sensation of the sea air on your face will  remind you that this is no ordinary cruise.

In the rush of city life it is possible to loose perspective on the value of health, rest and relaxation. On a gulet, everything you hear, smell, taste, see and feel can excite the mind.  If your Cruise coincides with the full moon you will be astounded by  its  size and magnificence lighting up the night sky. If you are lucky enough to have experienced a gulet holiday already, why not share your memories with the others on our gulet cruise forum.
